This is a 5.3 mile circular walk starting and ending in the village of Elterwater. The route initially follows the Elterwater to Conniston road before switching right into woodland, along well defined paths to the waterfall, then onwards through the woods, along farm tracks, across Slater’s Bridge itself, across open countryside overlooking Little Langdale Tarn, then more farm tracks back into Elterwater. After heavy rain, some of the route through the woodland part of the walk can be wet and boggy – as I found out to my cost – but otherwise it is well worth the effort, including bog coated boots!
