This video will demonstrate from start to finish how to draw a basket weave and how to kolrose the design onto a wooden spoon. The process is displayed as simple as possible to show you how easy it can be to get started. A basket weave is a perfect design to learn if you are looking to get into kolrosing, it is a simple design that you can do many things with. Kolrosing is a wood decoration technique which is simple to do. You will use a knife tip to draw a design onto a wooden surface, and rub oil and a pigment into the design to make it show up more. Equipment needed for this project: Mechanical pencil (make sure it has a good eraser) Bendable ruler (In the video I use a business card and also free-hand the pattern afterwards) Wooden spoon (I am using a maple wood spoon that I carved and pre burnished) Burnishing device (I use a decorative garden stone) Finishing oil (I use a food safe tung oil) Pigment (I use finely ground coffee) Paper (to practice the design) Kolrosing knife (I am using my knife made by Del Stubbs of Pinewood Forge) Hand towel (To balance the spoon on while kolrosing) Paper towel (To clean up the oil and coffee) Intro/outro music by Danheim, the song is called Lifa & Dauðr from the album Hringrás: https://danheim.bandcamp.com/album/hr....
