K2 Karakoram Range in Pakistan: K2, the second-highest peak in the world,K2 elevation 8,611 meters / 28,251 feet, is one of the most renowned trekking destinations in the world and the surrounding peaks like Broad Peak and the Gasherbrum massif. The view from base camp is considered one of the most impressive mountain vistas globally. Location and Route: K2 Base Camp is located in the Karakoram Range of Pakistan, at the confluence of the Godwin-Austen and Baltoro Glaciers. The trek to K2 Base Camp typically starts in Skardu. From Skardu, trekkers travel by jeep to Askoli, then proceed on foot through various campsites, including Jhola, Paiju, and the Baltoro Glacier, before reaching the base camp. Skardu: A major gateway to the mountains of the Karakoram, Skardu is a beautiful town with a stunning landscape and rich cultural heritage. It's the starting point for many treks in the region. Askoli: This is the last village on the trek to the Baltoro Glacier. From Skardu, you typically take a 4x4 vehicle to get to Askoli. It’s a small, remote village to prepare for the treks ahead. Jhola: After Askoli there is a trek to Jhola. It's a picturesque spot along the route, providing a nice camping area by the river. Paiju: Its a significant stop on the trek, situated at the confluence of the Braldu and the Baltoro Glaciers. Paiju is known for its stunning views and is a good place to rest and acclimatize. Trango Towers: These are a group of granite peaks that rise sharply above the Baltoro Glacier. The Trango Towers are a famous climbing destination and are known for their sheer faces and challenging routes. Baltoro Glacier: One of the largest glaciers outside the polar regions, the Baltoro Glacier is a highlight of the trek. Trekking on this glacier offers breathtaking views of towering peaks and a rugged landscape. Khuburtse: This is a campsite along the trek where you’ll experience the beauty of the glacier and the surrounding peaks. Goro I and Goro II: These are campsites on the glacier. Goro I is situated at a lower elevation, and Goro II is a bit higher up. Both offer incredible views of the surrounding peaks and glaciers. Gasherbrum: The Gasherbrum includes several peaks, including Gasherbrum I, II, III and IV. These are some of the highest and most impressive peaks in the Karakoram. Concordia Base Camp: "Throne Room of the Mountain Gods," Concordia is where the Baltoro Glacier meets the Godwin-Austen Glacier. It's a spectacular spot with views of several 8,000 m peaks including K2. K2 Base Camp: The final destination on this trek, is located at the foot of the world’s second-highest peak, K2.
