Ven. Ludup Gyatso was born in 1967 at Bhutia Busty in Darjeeling and well brought up here itself. At the age of eight years I joined as a novice monk at Ghoom Guru Sakya Monastery under the H.E. Sakya Khenpo Sangay Tenzin’s special blessings and advices. By the age of 11 years I completed my basic ritual course. From the age of 18 to 24 I completed my Buddhist philosophy course under the special guidance of S.K.S.Tenzin. Since from the age of 25 years I served as a teacher for almost 6 years at the same monastery. At the age of 29 I did Vajrakilikilaya course which is one of the most valuable course of Sakya tradition under the special teachings of ven. Kenpo Thupten Sangpo lak. Simultaneously I also learnt to make different ritual cake offerings and beautification of colour butter and blowing flute and making different mandalas. Later with lama Wangla of Ghoom and ven. Phuntsok Dorjee from Kalimpong and astrologer Palden Namgyal from Sikkim. Hence I have learnt to study astrology from them. Like wise I have learned Tibetan grammar and History from Kungno Bhartso from Sikkim and Professor Ngawang Jinpa of St. Josephs School, Darjeeling. Later I served as a voluntary monastic teacher at Pema Ts’al Sakya Monastic Institute in Nepal for about two years. At the same time I also learned Tibetan typing computer course from Mr. Kunchok Jinpa from Nyenchen Thanglha Tibetan press house in Nepal. At the present I work as a Tibetan teacher in the monastery and I am now trying to teach Tibetan to a much bigger audience.
