Modular drums: how to make kicks, hats, Buchla bongos and more from scratch

In this video I explore some simple (and some not-quite-so-simple) drum sounds and explain how to patch them with various Eurorack modules. For years I’ve worked pretty much exclusively with drum samples or fixed-architecture analogue drum machines and drum modules, so it’s been a lot of fun to explore few techniques for creating percussive sounds from scratch, from classic kicks and hats to more ‘out-there’ effects. Admittedly, in a small system this can quickly eat up a lot of modules, but if that’s the case, you could just record a bunch of one-shots and loops to create an quick, unique sample pack to use in other tracks.
