In this video, Don replaces the original leaf springs on his '67 Cougar with over 300,000 miles. It was sagging pretty badly, and the new springs will be a welcome upgrade. This can be done one at a time, as Don does here, or you can do both at once by separating the axle from the springs and raising it straight up out of the way. Feel free to add your suggestions in the comments! There are a couple corrections we need to make to the video: 1. The new leaf springs we offer are made from 5160H Steel (not 5130SAE as Don states in the video) 2. The competition leaf springs don't have an extra leaf. They are still a 4-leaf but are thicker steel so are a higher spring rate, and they will sit 1/2-3/4" lower than the standard springs. 3. It is recommended not to reuse U-bolts too many times as they can only be re-torqued so much before over stressing the bolts. As a classic Cougar owner, be sure to get leaf springs that are Cougar specific! They are longer than Mustang leaf springs. We carry the correct Cougar springs and have been very happy with the fit and quality.
