Trying PENANG FOOD for the First Time! - Top 5 Penang Street Foods

Trying Penang Food for the first time was filling! We walked George Town Penang to try the Top 5 Penang street foods… we even made it to the famous Anthony Bourdain Asam Laksa spot: Air Itam Laksa. Our first stop on the Malaysia street food tour was the oldest restaurant in Penang: Hameediyah Restaurant. Known as the best Nasi Kandar in Penang, I got to try Ayam Bawang and Murtabak. Although this wasn’t technically a street food, it was some of the best food in Penang I’ve had so far. Next up we try Penang hawker food when we try Mee Goreng at Bangkok Lane in Penang Malaysia. This traditional hokkien street food surprised me with a nutty, peanut flavor. I think the protein inside was intestines, so it’s a good thing I’m not squeamish! No Penang food vlog would be complete without trying, and enjoying, some noodles. This next dish is special to me. The famous Anthony Bourdain Asam Laksa spot in Air Itam at the bottom of Kek Lok Si Temple. This was easily my favorite food in Penang and the most authentic bowls of Malaysian food I’ve ever eaten. Served from a small Malaysia street food vendor, Air Itam Laksa is fast, cheap and delicious. We couldn’t leave George Town Penang without trying the best cendol from Penang Road Teow Chew Cendol. We met up with our friend Fais we met at the best restaurant in George Town and he showed us the local way to order cendol. You don’t have to stand outside in line like everyone else to get this Malaysian street food. In fact, there is an indoor restaurant where you can sit and be served! Trying the best cendol in Penang was a pleasant surprised and I liked it a lot more than ABC in Kuala Lumpur. And guess what?! Ryan was even trying Penang food for the first time when he agreed to try cendol! All in all, this Penang Street Food Tour was a complete success.
