Best SHAHEEN BAGH Non Veg Street Food Walk, Part 1 | Afghani Samosa + Lahori Chicken Paratha + Rolls

Shaheen Bagh, often known for its vibrant community and rich cultural diversity, has quietly evolved into a bustling food hub brimming with unique culinary gems. Our food walk through this lively neighborhood was an eye-opener into the myriad of flavors that now call Shaheen Bagh home. From cozy cafes serving inventive drinks to hidden eateries offering delicious Middle Eastern-inspired dishes, this place has become a haven for food lovers. Our first stop was Shayari Cafe, a quaint and cozy spot perfect for gathering with friends. The walls are adorned with Shayari posters, lending a poetic ambiance to the place. Here, we tried their Persian Special Tea, an interesting concoction of tea decoction, fresh pineapple, basil seeds, lemon juice, and honey. While not exactly a traditional Persian beverage, it was refreshingly different and worth a try. Next, we moved on to Al Nayabi, a local favorite with an eclectic range of Middle Eastern-inspired dishes. The owner himself recommended we try their Lahori Keema Paratha, which turned out to be a thick, tandoor-baked flatbread stuffed with spicy minced chicken, full of rich flavors and comforting spices. We also sampled their Nayabi Chicken, tender skewers of chicken topped with a creamy and buttery sauce that melted in our mouths. Not to be missed was the Turkish Tangdi, a succulent tandoor-grilled chicken leg stuffed with a delicious mix of minced chicken and dry fruits—a perfect blend of savory and sweet. For a taste of Kolkata street food in Delhi, we headed to Kolkata Rolls, where the owner boasted about their Kolkata-style rolls. We indulged in their Egg Chicken Roll, a delicious wrap made from a pan-fried egg-layered flatbread filled with chicken tikka chunks, flavorful sauces, and a dollop of mayonnaise. It was a satisfying bite that captured the essence of Kolkata street food. Our journey then led us to Mubeen Alam Chicken Fry, where we tried their Chicken Lollipop. This crispy and tender appetizer, made from frenched chicken wings dipped in a gram flour and arrowroot batter, deep-fried to perfection, was a delightful treat. Perhaps the most unexpected highlight of the day was at Afghani Samosa, where we encountered a viral sensation—the Afghani Chicken Samosa. Baked rather than fried, this pocket-friendly snack had people flocking to the counter. Stuffed with a spicy and flavorful chicken filling, it’s no wonder this samosa has become a crowd favorite. We wrapped up our flavorful adventure with a sweet ending at Rihan Sweets, where we indulged in their Moong Dal Halwa. This traditional Indian dessert, made from split yellow lentil paste, ghee, sugar, and nuts, was the perfect way to conclude our culinary exploration—rich, comforting, and utterly satisfying. Watch now and dive into the rich and diverse flavors of Shaheen Bagh!
