September 8, 2018 -- Nick, Sean, Josh and I take on the first ever trail race in the White Mountains of New Hampshire that goes over 4,000 foot summits. The race organizers (Rockhopper) offered both a 25 and 50 mile distance. The 25 mile course is a rugged, highly technical point-to-point traversing over two 4,000 footers (Mt. Waumbek and Mt. Cabot). The 50 milers cover the same 25 mile distance (starting in the opposite direction a few hours earlier), then do it a second time. There are two bib punch locations where you follow quick detours off the main ridge. We had an absolutely perfect weather day for running. I have so much respect for the 50 milers! The night of the race temps dropped into the mid 30s. My legs were trashed after covering 25 miles with beautiful weather and sunlight. Amazing to cover that terrain with a headlamp in the cold at night... Maybe someday I'll have the (stupidity?) bravery to give it a shot. Race start: 02:50 Starr King: 06:45 Willard Notch Aid Station: 25:47 Cabot: 31:30 Unknown Pond Aid Station: 40:37 Finish: 46:35 SUBSCRIBE for weekly running inspiration: http://bit.ly/subRunningWithCameras FOLLOW ME: / running_w_cameras Link to my filmmaking kit: https://kit.com/RunGreg/running-with-...
