Herping in Uganda and finding a Jameson's mamba (Dendroaspis jamesoni)- A free 4K nature documentary

Finally, I got to go field herping in Uganda and look for some of the most iconic snake species in Africa. In this episode, I show you the secret spot we call the "Mamba Zone" because of the high density of Jameson's mambas (Dendroaspis jamesoni) one can find here. I also show you how we managed to find a mamba (and some other snake species) in this incredible area. Field herping in Uganda is an amazing experience, which every true reptile lover should experience once. You can find loads of emblematic snake species, venomous and not. Some of the best-known vipers, like the Gaboon viper (Bitis gabonica), the rhinoceros viper (Bitis nasicornis) among different bush viper species, forest cobras, boomslang, and more. Jameson's mambas are the main character of this episode and the target species of the morning spent in the "Mamba Zone". They are one of the four mamba species, and for many of us one of the most wanted reptile species on the planet to see in their natural habitat. These arboreal venomous snakes can be recognized easily by the coffin-shaped head and dark green coloration with a black tail (The eastern subspecies which found in Uganda has this black tail coloration always). I had an amazing team of locals helping me to find the snakes in this video. Alphar is the incredible guy handling the mamba on this video, and he is the brains behind the local herping operation. He and his team goes above and beyond to find the snaqke species of our dreams. And they literally climb trees if needed, to make sure you have a close encounter with the snakes. (Exactly what happened in my case in this video as well...) In most areas around the world (in Africa as well of course) local people in rural areas are most commonly afraid of snakes and are killing them as soon as they encounter one. So what these guys are doing, is really exceptional, by creating an eco-tourism opportunity built around the snakes, they are true pioneers in the area, who protect reptiles. This means when we go out herping in Uganda, we have many expert eyes to help us find the snakes. On this trip, our local snake spotters were the ones who found all four venomous snakes, and they did in spots, where it was almost impossible to find them. They can be super camouflaged, or hidden high up on a tree, these guys will go the extra mile to find the snakes. And this makes herping in this part of the world so special and valuable. You come from far, but you know that every effort will be done to find all the species of snakes you are hoping for. This video is part of my amateur wildlife documentary series, Before It Is All Gone, where I am sharing all the incredible animal species in their natural habitat, while I am on my travels all over the globe. I have the luck of traveling all over the world to track and observe the coolest animal species on the planet in their natural habitat. With Before It Is All Gone I am bringing these encounters to everybody willing to watch my short wildlife documentaries on my YouTube channel. #herping #snakes #wildlife #mamba #venomoussnake #beforeitisallgone
