Santaka are Manfredas and Marijus Aleksa. '555' is taken from their upcoming full length release, 'No Rivers Here', coming out 9 December on Byrd Out. Santaka collaborate with filmmaker Rudolfas Levulis, in his production of 'The Shift'. "A moving production line: taut, stable, dragging the waste of the world on itself. The sorters, very different from the consumers, select and sort out the moving rubbish. The movements of their hands are precise, almost mechanical movements of the metronome. Like during the gold rush, dozens of hands surround the production line, indiscriminately seek, and find and sort the waste, trying to find the valuable golden nuggets spread out in the stream of rubbish. With the increasing speed of the information flow of our environment, the continuous frame format, differently from the mechanical hands, draws in the audience into the real-time hypnosis experiment. Particularly long format film, stops the speeded-up time, invites the viewer to rethink the stress created by the constant progress, consumption, and its consequences."
