State of the Climate on Earth 2021-2022 | UN WMO Report in Under 2 Minutes

The United Nation's World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) released its State of the Climate 2021 report. The report documents and reports on how climate change has intensified over the past year showing recent climate-related trends. It shows the current state of the global climate. Commenting on the report, the UN Secretary-General António Guterres called it "A dismal litany of humanity's failure to tackle climate disruption." The report stated that new all-time-high records for temperature rise, sea-level rise, ocean acidification and coral bleaching were set last year. Guterres stated that the global energy system is broken and that if the use of fossil fuels continues, it will bring everyone closer to a climate crisis. According to the UN Secretary-General, the only future is a sustainable future backed by renewable energy to combat climate change. He called for an end to fossil fuel pollution and a scaling up of investments into clean energy across the world.
