Assassin's Creed III is an action-adventure game developed by Ubisoft, released in 2012. The game is set during the American Revolutionary War (1754–1783) and follows the story of Ratonhnhaké, also known as Connor, a half-Mohawk, half-English Assassin. Connor embarks on a mission to protect his people and secure freedom for the colonies from British rule, while confronting the Templars, who seek to control the new world. The game offers a vast open-world experience, allowing players to explore iconic cities like Boston and New York, as well as the frontier wilderness. It introduces new gameplay mechanics such as naval combat, enhanced free-running through trees and buildings, and an improved combat system that includes dual-wielding weapons. Key historical figures like George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, and Charles Lee play prominent roles in the story, blending historical events with fictional Assassin-Templar conflicts.
