Revenge of the Holy Battle (Castlevania: The Adventure Remix)

[Remix Album] Album: Hard Jump Origin: [NES] Castlevania: The Adventure – Battle of the Holy (Stage 1), Revenge (Stage 4) Original Composers: Shigeru Fukutake, Norio Hanzawa, Hidehiro Funauchi To be honest, Castlevania: The Adventure was not a good game. Sluggish movement, clunky controls, ridiculously tight jumps, misleading pathways meant to kill you, and some seriously sketchy collision detection made for a frustrating experience, even by Castlevania standards. But the music left quite the impression and seems to capture the Castlevania spirit in its melodies. I’ve been thinking about this remix for quite a while and had planned on working and finishing it before Super Smash Bros. Ultimate released in celebration of Simon Belmont and Richter Belmont being added to Smash Bros. Unfortunately, I didn't get to start working and finishing it until just recently. I’ve wanted Simon Belmont (or any Castlevania representative) in Super Smash Bros. as far back as Melee. In Melee, I saw that Sheik had a metal chain as a weapon and it made me think of how similar it was to Simon swinging around the Vampire Killer in Super Castlevania IV. With each passing Smash Bros. game, I became doubtful that we’d ever get a Castlevania representative as it faded into obscurity and Konami’s priorities had shifted. Nearly 17 years later, Simon (and a surprise Richter) joined Super Smash Bros. and it was a glorious trailer revealing it! As a longtime Castlevania fan, I couldn’t be any happier with their inclusion as well as the amount of music from the series they put into Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. If there were any other classic retro character I’d wanted added to Smash Bros. now, I’d probably want Ryu Hayabusa from Ninja Gaiden, Strider Hiryu from Strider, or Arthur from Ghosts ‘n Goblins. I’ve been incredibly busy this past half year as I’ve been trying to learn and practice how to properly utilize mastering. The increase in quality can be heard in this remix compared to my older work and I hope it paid off.
