The history of Shiv Khori, a famous cave shrine in Jammu and Kashmir, is based on several myths and legends. Discovery According to one myth, a Muslim shepherd named Buta Malik discovered the cave in the 20th century while searching for his missing goats. He was startled to find saints inside and began to worship there.  Origin According to Hindu mythology, Lord Shiva himself established the cave. Another legend says that Shiva created the cave from his trident to escape the demon Bhashmasur.  Tignificance The cave is dedicated to the unborn form of Lord Shiva. It's believed that performing puja at the cave can bring good fortune and blessings.    Lingam The cave houses a naturally formed lingam that's believed to be self-manifested.  Other formations The cave also has natural rock formations dedicated to Goddess Parvati, Lord Ganesha, Lord Kartikeya, Bull God Nandi, and Sheshnag.  Location The cave is situated in the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir, on a hillock in Ransoo village.  Accessibility The cave has a wheelchair accessible entrance and parking lot.
