Camping at Glenlough via Slievetooey Mountain

This is a very long walk which begins at Maghera beach in Ardara, then goes up Meenacurrin and Slievetooey and then down into Glenlough to explore the famous ruins of Dan Ward's cottage. These humble isolated ruins are famous because the American painter Rockwell Kent and the Welsh poet Dylan Thomas both stayed there. The walk ends on the coast with a night's camping before the long hike back along the sea cliffs. This was a seriously long hike, don't even attempt to try this one unless you're completely demented. TG4 made a very interesting documentary on Dan Ward's cottage/Rockwell Kent which was called Ar Lorg Annie. I don't speak Irish so I've no idea what that means but I'd highly recommend watching this documentary if you'd like to learn more. I discovered all this information after the event.
