After quite a while, I've got the urge to take to the skies in VR again using the Pimax 8Kx in wide mode. Thanks to the latest Nvidia drivers, it seems not only possible but also smooth (within the limits of MSFS), if I lock it at 60 Hz and use the frame limiter set to half with PimaxXR, medium details, and 0.8 from the Pimax console. With DLSS updated to the latest version, I'm off for a clear flight from Lugano to Lugano before lunch. The clarity isn't top-notch (the Crystal and others with pancake lenses are far superior), but the SENSE OF PRESENCE due to the wide field of view (it's like wearing an actual helmet, with just thin edges on either side, not like the scuba mask feel of other headsets) makes the experience more than rewarding. Just imagine the sensation if you consider viewing through the right eye alone. Awaiting the new Flight Simulator and keeping my fingers crossed for better optimization than its predecessor, especially in VR, for the uninitiated, the VR experience with such a wide angle (160 degrees) is STUNNING. For those accustomed, it's still a compelling reason to stick with the Pimax 8KX and await its successor, which has yet to make its debut.
