Episode 46: Landing and Stairs

In this episode we build a landing and stairs to the second floor. This is the hardest thing I have done on the house. I calculated the stairs using an online calculator. I set the landing at the height of the 5th stair tread per the plans so once I calculated all the rise and run for the stairs, I built the landing to that height. I decided on 4 stringers so they would be solid. I also added a 2x4 to the stringers. We are 7 ¾ rise and 10 in run in the stringers so with the nosing we will be at 11 in treads and they are comfy to climb. The other big challenge was getting good clean cuts.
