This 2000 BMW M5 spent time with a single owner in California until it was acquired by the selling dealer in 2023, and it is #26 of a limited number fitted with the Dinan S3 package, which was installed in 2007 by All German Auto, Inc. of Escondido, California. Power is provided by a 4.9-liter V8 that has been fitted with Dinan components including a centrifugal supercharger, carbon-fiber air-intake system, engine management software, tuned velocity stacks, and high-flow throttle bodies. Finished in Jet Black over Caramel leather, the car is equipped with a six-speed manual transmission, a short-throw shifter, a Dinan 3.45:1 limited-slip differential, an aftermarket exhaust system, a sunroof, 18″ wheels, StopTech multi-piston brake calipers at all four corners, and a Dinan S3-specification clutch and JRZ suspension components. This E39 M5 Dinan S3 indicates 88k miles and is now offered in New York with a window sticker, an owner’s manual, service and modification records, a clean Carfax report, and a clean California title. The car is finished in Jet Black with Shadowline trim. Additional exterior details include a power sunroof, rear parking sensors, and 2001 M5-style xenon headlight and LED taillight assemblies as well as a pair of auxiliary xenon lights fitted within the lower grille opening. A replacement BMW windshield was installed in January 2012. Photos show chips on the front bumper cover, and paint meter readings from multiple body panels are presented in the gallery below. Black-finished 18″ Dinan forged wheels with polished lips are mounted with 275/30 Toyo Proxes RA1 tires. StopTech brake components were installed in 2001, while a Dinan S3 suspension system including JRZ suspension components and a Monoball control arm kit was fitted in 2007. Further modifications include a Dinan strut-tower brace and roll bars in addition to slotted brake rotors at all four corners. The heated front bucket seats and the rear bench seat are upholstered in Caramel leather. Dinan aluminum pedals have been fitted, and further appointments include dual-zone automatic climate control, woodgrain trim, driver-seat position memory settings, M5-branded door sill plates, and a replacement 2001 M5-style navigation system. Photos show wear on the outer bolster of the driver’s seat. A serialized plate from Dinan denotes this example as the 26th equipped with the S3 package, and it shows an April 2007 build completion date along with the final sequence of the car’s VIN and an engraving of Steve Dinan’s signature. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Getrag six-speed manual transmission and a Dinan 3.45:1 limited-slip differential that was installed by All German Auto, Inc. in September 2007. An AC Schnitzer short-shift kit has reportedly been fitted, and a replacement transmission detent kit was installed in January 2012. The 4.9-liter S62 V8 has been modified with a Dinan S3-M5 centrifugal supercharger system with corresponding engine management software, and additional Dinan components include a carbon-fiber air-intake system, oil cooler kit, tuned velocity stacks, and high-flow throttle bodies. Claimed output was rated at 621 horsepower and 502 lb-ft of torque in S3 specification. The connecting rod bearings were replaced by All German Auto, Inc. in May 2007. The leather-wrapped steering wheel fronts a replacement instrument cluster with gray dials that was fitted in March 2004, which contains an M-branded 185-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a variable redline, and gauges for coolant temperature, oil temperature, and fuel level. A Valentine One radar detection unit is mounted within the dashboard to the right of the gauges. The digital odometer indicates 88k miles, approximately 100 of which were added by the selling dealer. The included window sticker displays initial delivery to Bill Jacobs Motorsports of Naperville, Illinois, and it lists factory colors and equipment along with a total vehicle price of $72,895. An owner’s manual, service invoices, and modification records will also accompany the car.
