GIS in Art. A video for the cultural tour of Central Greece’s ancient theaters, which I prepared for the 8th General Assembly of NGO Diazoma. Diazoma focuses on the cultural heritage of Greece and its connection with sustainable development. The primary focus of the organization is on ancient theaters, with the aim to enhance them, find funding for them, and restore them to the forefront of contemporary Greek society and everyday life. In doing so, it has recently introduced the notion of the cultural itineraries and archaeological parks, which refers to groupings of ancient monuments that cluster in particular geographic areas of Greece. To expedite the implementation of its goals, Diazoma has embraced and relies on many aspects of digital technology. This video, which was presented in the 8th general assembly of the organization in September 2015, attempts to portray, in an artistic light, the role of technology in cultural heritage. By loosely flying over the path of the cultural itinerary of Central Greece, it symbolizes how our constant interaction with the virtual worlds of technology can in fact precipitate significant changes in the real world, thus achieving the objective to instill life back to the ancient theaters of Greece. The video was prepared with a combination of GIS and audio/video-editing software programs. Music theme: Green Audio "Epic Technology"
