Japan’s Kuzutsuka Festival: Giant Floats Fight for Glory 葛塚まつり

Kuzutsuka festival 2023. In this video, I will show you the amazing Tourou (festival floats) at the Kuzutsuka Festival in Toyosaka, Niigata, Japan. The Tourou are huge wooden structures that are decorated with lanterns, carvings, and paintings. They are pulled by teams of people through the streets of Toyosaka during the festival. The Tourou represent different themes and stories from Japanese folklore and history. They are very impressive and beautiful to watch. The Tourou are also very loud, as they are accompanied by music and chants from the people pulling them. The best part of the festival is the final show, when the Tourou return to the Inari Shrine and put on a spectacular display. The floats circle around the shrine and face each other in pairs. Then, they start to compete with each other by swinging their lanterns and making loud noises. The people pulling the floats also shout and cheer to support their team. The atmosphere is very exciting and festive. I hope you enjoyed this video and learned something new about the Kuzutsuka Festival and the Tourou.
