How to drive a 1924 Model T Ford Truck

A demonstration how to drive Don Tompkin's 1924 Model T Ford truck by Usek of Autotech, in Eastsound, WA. It was sold in May of 2016 to Steve Lillestol of Lopez Island, WA, who is now using it for his business, Island Grist. To ready the truck for sale it was taken to Autotek to check for any defects, then returned to the farm. I filmed the arrival then asked Usek to give me a tutorial so I (the farm care taker) could drive it down to Orcas Rd. with a For Sale sign. The family had put an ad on craigslist and in a national magazine but there were no serious buyers for 2 months. However, after driving it down to the road where it could be seen by ferry traffic, it sold within a week. It went to the perfect buyer because Steve knows these vehicles well. After driving it over to Lopez he replaced the transmission and the last time i talked to him, was really happy with it. Island Grist is partnered with Barn Owl Bakery and the truck now has Steve's logo on the side. It can be seen during the week delivering flour from his mill to the bakery,. I had no idea when I posted this video (which was primarily for my own edification) that it would become so popular. But now I see that antique cars have quite a following on youtube. I want to thank everyone for their comments and hope Randy gets over whatever is ailing him. Being an ogre is a tough job. I wouldn't wish it on anyone. For those who remember Don and used to see him driving around town in the Model T with his Border Collies, and wave to him in the annual 4th of July parade, I will tell you that as of today, March 24th, 2017, he is still with us. No one expected him to last this long. He is in a nursing home in Bothell, WA, near his daughter, and although he can still get around in a wheel chair, has no recollection of ever having owned this vehicle.
