The 3 or 5 ton air jack is the jack I should have bought in the first place. Compared to the 20 ton air/pneumatic bottle jack, it is excellent and well worth the $135 it cost. The 20 ton bottle jack is quite heavy at around 20 kg, the hydraulic action is slow but works well and doesn't take much force to operate. There is a manually operated screw that gets the jack up to the item you are going to lift and allows full range of the hydraulic ram. The supplied handle isn't great, it comes apart easy and the lock/unlock key on the end does not fit the valve that well. However, it will suffice even if poorly made. The pump itself has quite sloppy linkages typical of a cheaper jack, which means the handle moves around a lot when operated manually. It is worth noting that because of the jack's height, the 20 ton jack will not fit under the rear differential but does fit under the front cross member. Both jacks I have are both low on oil and do not leak so they must have been low from the purchase. The biggest issues with the jack, if it worked, would be the slowness of its operation and the overall weight. The 3 Ton air jack not only is way faster and easier to deploy, it is smaller, lighter and does just about the same job with less capacity. It can be operated without having to go under the car but, it does require the car to be chocked and you must use axle stands for your safety. No, I'll just be a minute, I won't bother, this is pneumatics which can let go at any moment and will deflate before you can get out from underneath. The two young men are friendly and extremely helpful and it was a pleasure dealing with them both. I can thoroughly recommend them, if you are looking for workshop items, give them a try.
