The area was constructed under Bangladesh Army and the Special Works Organization. It is now a popular recreational spot for residents of Dhaka. Gulshan (Bengali: গুলশান) is a thana situated in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is an affluent residential and business neighbourhood; and is now home to a number of the city's restaurants, shopping centres, schools, banks, members' clubs and hosts the majority of embassies and high commissions in Bangladesh.
