In the latest release of Smartsheet, users can now change column names without breaking reports. This feature streamlines the process of updating column names while ensuring that existing reports and formulas remain intact. Here's how to use this feature: Navigate to the Column Properties: Open the sheet containing the column you want to rename in Smartsheet. Right-click on the column header or click on the dropdown arrow to access the column properties menu. Rename the Column: In the column properties menu, select the "Rename Column" option. Enter the new name for the column in the provided field. Update Column References in Formulas (If Necessary): If the renamed column is referenced in any formulas within the sheet, Smartsheet will automatically update the references to reflect the new column name. Review any formulas in the sheet to ensure that the references to the renamed column are updated correctly. Make manual adjustments if necessary. Verify Reports and Automated Workflows: Check any reports, dashboards, or automated workflows that reference the renamed column. Smartsheet automatically updates references to the renamed column in reports and dashboards, ensuring that they continue to display accurate data. Publish Changes: Once you have reviewed and verified that all references to the renamed column have been updated correctly, publish the changes to the sheet.
