A man known for illuminating the wonders of life on Earth will honor a man who inspires us to explore the mysteries of the cosmos, as evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins presents the Richard Dawkins Award to astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson. Director of the world-renowned Hayden Planetarium, and beloved by millions as a best-selling author, host of the relaunched Cosmos television series, NOVA ScienceNOW, and the StarTalk podcast and TV series, Neil deGrasse Tyson has been sharing his love of science and discovery for most of his life. The Richard Dawkins Award is presented annually by the Center for Inquiry, home to the Richard Dawkins Foundation for Reason & Science, given to a distinguished individual from the worlds of science, scholarship, education, or entertainment who publicly proclaims the values of secularism and rationalism, upholding scientific truth wherever it may lead. Previous winners include philosopher and cognitive scientist Daniel Dennett, Cosmos co-creator Ann Druyan, activist and author Ayaan Hirsi Ali, actor and writer Stephen Fry, comedian and actor Ricky Gervais, screenwriter and poet Javed Akhtar, and comedian and musician Tim Minchin.
