Hi friends, welcome to my channel! Feel free to use our itinerary as a guide for your own trip. If you have any questions, please leave a comment below! 3-Day Family Road Trip to Kings Canyon & Sequoia National Parks – Detailed Itinerary (Kid-Friendly): Day 1: Arrival at Kings Canyon National Park 8:30 AM: Depart from the Bay Area. 9:30 AM: Stop at Romero Overlook Visitor Center for a bathroom break and to stretch. 11:00 AM: Stop in Fresno to fill up on gas and pick up lunch. 12:00 PM: Arrive at Kings Canyon National Park. Big Stump Picnic Area: Enjoy lunch at the picnic tables (restrooms available). Optional short walk to Big Stump Grove to see some large tree stumps. 1:00 PM: Drive further into the park along Highway 180. Highway 180 follows the edge of Kings Canyon, offering amazing views of the deepest river canyon in the United States (8,200 feet measured from highest peak to canyon floor). 3:20 PM: Arrive at Boyden Cavern for a 4-5 PM cavern tour (Pre-book online as tickets may sell out). Play beside Kings River before the tour begins. Option to return through a small creek (wear water shoes or bring extra shoes and socks if you choose this route). 5:30 PM: Drive 10 minutes to Grizzly Falls. Spend time enjoying the waterfall and playing in the water. If time allows, consider driving further into Kings Canyon for meadows and more waterfalls. 6:30 PM: Head to hotel for dinner and overnight stay. Day 2: Exploring Sequoia National Park 8:00 AM: Depart for Sequoia National Park (about an hour’s drive). 9:00 AM: Park at the Giant Forest Museum parking area and take the shuttle to Moro Rock. 9:30 AM: Moro Rock. 10:30 AM: Take the shuttle to Crescent Meadow. 11:00 AM: Crescent Meadow: walk several short trails and see gigantic trees, some with burned trunks still standing. 12:30 PM: Take the shuttle back to the Giant Forest Museum for lunch (pack your lunch in advance). 1:30 PM: Explore the Giant Forest Museum and walk the Big Trees Trail (a short, easy trail perfect for kids). 3:00 PM: Hike the Congress Trail (General Sherman Tree, McKinley Tree, Lincoln Tree, the President Tree, and the Senate). Option to take a shorter route. Shuttle back to the parking lot. 5:00 PM: Arrive at Lodgepole Visitor Center for dinner. Get a National Park Passport stamp. 7:00 PM: Return to the lodge. Day 3: Final Day in Kings Canyon National Park 9:00 AM: Check out and visit Kings Canyon National Park visitor center (get another National Park Passport stamp). 9:30 AM: General Grant Tree ( second-largest tree in the world), Gamlin Cabin, Centennial Stump, and the Fallen Monarch (a hollow tree trunk you can walk through). This short trail is stroller-friendly and takes about 30 minutes. 11:30 AM: Drive to Hume Lake for lunch. 1:00 PM: Drive to Sandy Cove on the other side of Hume Lake. Play in the water, relax, and enjoy the clear lake with ducks and fish. 2:30 PM: Start the drive back home. Arrive back in the Bay Area before dinner.
