Will new leads solve this 10-year-old cold case? The police say they won’t quit until they find Sonia Varaschin’s killer. Police started an investigation into the 42-year-old nurse’s death after she didn’t show up for work at a Mississauga pharmaceutical company. Her remains were discovered by a citizen a week later in Caledon, approximately 12 kilometres from Varaschin’s home. Investigators say Varaschin was “brutally murdered in her residence” in Orangeville. “Our investigators are as committed to finding Sonia Varaschin’s killer today as we were when it began in 2010,” said OPP Detective Inspector Shawn Glassford. But Sonia’s family questions why it’s taking so long to make an arrest. And we hear from the man long considered by many to be a key suspect, who wants to clear his name and help get justice for Sonia.
