Skeena Pacific

After a less-than-productive outing to the Fraser and Thompson River canyons, I was trackside again in familiar territory. Almost predictably the first train along is an eastbound coal empty but with a difference. First was an appreciated wave from the cab of leader CP8158. Second was the incorporated power move, with CP8777, Union Pacific UP5838, CP8151 and CP8942. Running in mid-train is CP8760 with CP8845 on the rear. The action is caught just west of the grade crossing of the Squilax-Turtle Valley Road, at about Mile 87.4 of the CPKC Shuswap Subdivision at Squilax, BC. If you go to Google, select Maps and paste in 50°51'50.0"N 119°34'58.5"W you'll see the location of the camera for this video. Technical: Recorded with a Canon XA55 4KHD Pro video camera at 1920x1080 resolution and 60 frames per second. It is equipped with an Azden SMX-10 Stereo Microphone mounted inside a Rode Blimp Windshield. A Neewer NW74K 7-Inch 1920x1080 Field Monitor is also used. All equipment is mounted on a custom bar attached to a Canadian Studio Pro Heavy Duty 72" Tripod using a NEEWER GM006 Pro Video Fluid Head. Video is edited, produced and rendered using Cyberlink PowerDirector 2024 Ultimate.
