This got me thinking...what cheap white or reflective surface would increase bifacial solar panel output the most? So I gathered 5 cheap white/reflective materials -- white rocks, aluminum foil, an emergency thermal (mylar) blanket, a white tarp, and reflective insulation -- and spent the day putting them beneath a bifacial solar panel to measure how much each material increased power output. I wanted to compare the power output against a control, so I set up 2 identical bifacial panels and only put the reflective materials beneath one of them. (In hindsight, I probably should have included a material to mimic putting a white fence behind the panels...but didn't think of that until I was done with filming and editing the video :/.) Some of these materials aren't the most practical. The aluminum foil and mylar blanket, for instance, both tear easily and wouldn't last very long. But I included them anyway for fun, and I do think they were at least worthwhile to test out. ~ Editor: Javan Khabi [email protected] Music: https://uppbeat.io/t/jonny-boyle/craf... - License code: 61ILAU46EUAQJYZT https://uppbeat.io/t/benjamin-botkin/... - License code: DM8SCALVBZ59S03Z https://uppbeat.io/t/movediz/young-en... - License code: BO63C61KWP4VIPLP ~ DISCLAIMERS Some of the links in this video description and in the comments below are affiliate links.
