Wacky Races (Dreamcast)

Wacky Races was developed and published by Infogrames in June of 2000. It is (of course) based on the cartoon based on the Hanna-Barbera cartoon of the same name that ran on CBS between 1968 to 1969. The game Wacky Races was also relesed on Game Boy Color, PC, PlayStation, PlayStation 2 and (much later) Nintendo Wii. An expanded version of the game entitled Wacky Races Starring Dastardly and Muttley was later released on the PlayStation 2 in 2001. The game features all the characters from the series playable with their vehicles. The game has a variety of modes such as Arcade Mode, Adventure mode, and Battle Arena, and also feature multi-player for up to four people. A fun fact about the game is that many of the voice actors from the original show is either sampled or has returned for all new recordings just for this game. Most noteworthy of newly recorded voice acting is Janet Waldo as Penelope Pitstop, Scott Innes as Professor Pat Pending, Gregg Berger as the narrator and Peter Perfect and Rufus Ruffcut. Mario Kart came out in 1992. Mario Kart 64 came in 1997 and Mario Kart: Super Circuit was in the pipeline. Didn't the developers learn anything? The courses are full of things to get stuck behind. Controlling the vehicles is sometimes very difficult and the competition, oh the competition. As you might see from the video your competition travel in a large cluster and gang up on you. The cluster finish within 2 seconds of each other almost every race. It's a brutal wall of irritation. But, it's a quite ok "kart clone" and is actually worth a try. Disclamer: This is not a complete run or a long play. We never claim to be pro gamers. We are just showing what the game looks like and how it plays, for your viewing pleasure.
