The Finger Lock - PS 132

Studies in Pibroch - The Finger Lock Hannay-MacAuslan. Acc. to the archives, this was performed as a reveille, and was even used to signal the last of the great rebellion leaders (Spanish John) at the end of the Third Jacobite Rebeliion. It was later re-interpreted as a lament. This performance seeks to capture the early martial interpretation: a wake-up, a call to arms. The apocryphal and fanciful stories about this tune being particularly difficult was due to a corruption in the reception of the Gaelic title, perpetrated by non-Gaelic speakers mistaking the terms "gleus" and "glas".
