Wonderful video filmed by Tim Blood, live at @tsunamibooks13 with my good friend Gabe Schliffer aka Libracello (@alharem ). I had such a great visit to Eugene staying with Gabe's family. For a rail-weary traveler, nothing does the soul better that a home cooked meal and time with family. Simple pleasures like the cool drink of water requested by John Henry on his death bed. Here we are playing 'Death of John Henry', a really interesting take on the legend which I first heard done by The Wilderness Family, and Uncle Dave Macon has a version, so do Ralph Stanley and John Hartford. The banjo is in double C tuning (gCGCD), and banjo tune afficionados will recognize the bits of 'Edward Chops a Tree Down' which frame the verses. This song appears on my upcoming album Banjo Jubilations which is available at https://bennybleu.bandcamp.com/album/... My next stop was Portland, Oregon where I played a legendary folk room at @ArtichokeMusic , and the entire show is available to stream on their page at https://www.youtube.com/live/_dpYr45u...
