Whisky Fireside Chat #61 - Becky Mason & Reid McLachlan, Canadian Canoeists

Here’s another whisky fireside chat done on line during the Corona Virus pandemic. This time it’s with Canadian canoeists and artists - Becky Mason and her husband Reid McLachlan. Becky Mason (daughter of legendary film maker and paddler, Bill Mason) instructs paddling skills at Meech Lake, Chelsea, in Eastern Quebec, Gatineau, 20 mins north of Ottawa. When she travels on tour she presents her slideshows and also teaches workshops on her Classic Canoeing solo and tandem lessons. She has many tips about paddles, canoes and tips about how to select equipment a great canoeing resource she's posted and much more. Becky Mason is a visual artist and she likes to paint what she knows... nature and the canoe and where they can take her. Canadian artist Reid McLachlan has always felt compelled to make images on surfaces. He was formally trained to do this at the Ontario College of Art and Design in Toronto and spent his final year of studies at the OCAD campus in Florence, Italy where he graduated with Honours and a number of awards in 1987. Since then he has painted and exhibited continuously in Ontario and Quebec as well as the U.S. Recently he has returned to the discipline of drawing, exploring different aspects of his artistic practice through this medium. Whether painting or drawing Reid's work explores the themes that define what it is to be human - faith, love, loss and death - and seeks understanding in these primal beliefs and emotions that drive us all. His work can be seen in Montreal at Galerie Bloom, in Ottawa at Cube Gallery and Galerie Annexe, and by appointment at his studio in the Gatineau Hills of Chelsea, Quebec. Web site: https://www.redcanoes.ca/ You Tube Channel:    / redcanoess   Paul Mason’s website: http://bubblestreet.ca/ Paul Mason interview clip: Justine Curgenven Cackle TV
