The Venerable is a documentary short by Nick Schultz created with the intent to raise money for the Sri Dharmapala Temple outside of Kandy, Sri Lanka. The piece focuses on The Venerable P. Mahinda Bhikku and his teacher The Venerable R. Rathanasara Maha. Aside from dedicating their temple to worship and study, they utilize their resources to support a Sunday school for a large group of orphaned children. They provide what they can to help guide their students through education, prayer, and mediation. The piece is a calming, mediative visual focusing on the philosophies shared by the the Venerable R. Rathanasara Maha and The Venerable P. Mahinda Bhikku. Mahinda has become a mentor of mine, and I soundly believe that his philosophies can resonate with the populist, creating a common good between human - during a time of such divide and unrest.
