Late 1940s Paris Fashion Magazines for Home Sewers / Sewing the New Look

#vintage #sewing #vintagefashion To go with the New Look television series starring Juliet Binoche as Coco Chanel surviving the war years alongside her rival Christian Dior I'm showing some of my vintage sewing / fashion magazines from Paris in this era. It's a fascinating time for sewers and fashion lovers alike, as both fashion designers and ordinary women used all their ingenuity to transform old dresses or sew new dresses with a limited fabric supply. I also think there is something very wearable about the late 40s style. We tend not to see the massive skirts or high pointed busts of the 50s but we do have a more natural fit and flare style. There is also an emphasis on breaking away from sensible neutrals to more colourful dresses with contrast details. I hope you enjoy looking through my magazines with me. I have chosen ones to reflect the changing seasons in 1948. I can create videos on different aspects of this era reflected in sewing and fashion magazines if there is interest. Or indeed other eras! If you enjoyed this video and would like to support my channel, please consider buying me a cup of coffee: https://ko-fi.com/samanthalovestosew Thank you for watching my videos and supporting me.
