The hum of the river and the picturesque landscapes that cover your eyes with wonder, transpose you into an exciting but utopian dream. A valley at the base of Fagaras Mountains, where you can explore Romania as in the fairy tales, probably a place that you’ll not be able to see elsewhere. The Fair Valley Clay Castle (#casteluldelut) is not only a place that looks magical but also a place where nature is respected. The owner chose to build the whole structure by hand with eco-friendly materials like concrete, stone, wood, straw, and shingle, so kudos to that 🧚‍♀️ While I was there, I haven’t seen any fairies, but I could definitely sense their presence. The place is surrounded by hand-crafted objects, making it similar to my grandma’s garden, and rather different from a regular accommodation place. The childhood notion of perfection is being painted again right in front of our eyes. The fascination of exploring a place that was really only in your head makes The Fair Valley Clay Castle a dream come true for many visitors, myself included. 🖼️ The architectural project officially launched in 2014. The owner's dream was to escape the crowded capital of Romania, Bucharest. Paradoxically, the castle turned out to be so captivating, that crowds of people queue to snap a photo in front of the building, so prepare yourself beforehand. Even if the landscape is slightly being torn apart by over-tourism, this remains one of the best, dreamlike places that you can visit in Romania. I recommend visiting this place out of season.
