Build a Bike! - Custom Affordable Build With Spare Parts

A customer came in today wanting an affordable road bike for a urban commuter. After some discussion about his needs and budget, we started to steer towards the idea of a FLAT BAR road bike. I told him I could probably build him a parts bike with some extra parts I had laying around. After looking through the warehouse for a bit, I found a frame, fork, and a few drivetrain options. When it came to the drivetrain, we went over a few different options, but ultimately decided on a simpler drivetrain. We live near the coast and it is completely flat, so a wide range or 2x setup isn’t necessary. In the end we went with a Microshift 7 speed drivetrain. Because of this, it meant we could use a less expensive wheel set since we would only need a freewheel. The wheels are still double wall with a 3 cross and have about 15mm of sidewall, they’ll make for a sturdy wheel set for the city streets. All in all, the build turned out great.
