But, the gentle turning is very good for increasing blood and qi (or chi) circulation through the spine, the back muscles, and all the soft tissue and fascia throughout the back. From a Qigong and Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective, this exercise helps to stimulate the: Du meridian Ren meridian the Urinary bladder meridian the spinal cord and the nerves that radiate from it and ‘extra acupuncture points’ located around the spine Give this routine a try and see how you feel! The nice thing about this practice is that it is easy to fit into a busy day. You can practice this if you have been sitting for a long period, if you feel tight, or you just need to refresh your qi! I'm Jeffrey Chand, an acupuncturist, practitioner of Traditional Chinese medicine, and Qigong instructor.
