And now we move on to some heritage double decker action, and to start off we are having a Leyland from the south coast, in the form of the vibrantly coloured Bournemouth 230. 230 (ORU230G) was new in 1969 and comprises a batch of 17 PDR1A/1 Atlanteans new to Bournemouth, of which they were an enthusiastic operator of the type and were used to continue One Person Operation (OPO) work as well as the gradual replacement of the trolleybus network. 230 kept plowing service in the coastal town for many more years, by 1993 it ironiclly was accquired by independant operator Routemaster Bournemouth, where it ironically ran in competition against Yellow bus routes, and was bought for preservation in the late 1990s/ early 2000s, exactly when I know not. 230 was operating as part of the Connexions running day based at Wetherby Racecourse, with today's video comprising a run from neighbouring Harrogate to the Racecourse via Spofforth & Wetherby, on a spirited run. 230 is powered by a Leyland O.680 engine coupled to a 5-speed SCG Semi-Automatic gearbox, with growl, grunt and Leyland loudness.
