The satellite is equipped with a state-of-the-art instrument called TROPOMI (Tropospheric Monitoring Instrument), which is capable of measuring CO concentrations with high accuracy and spatial resolution. To calculate carbon monoxide concentrations using the Sentinel-5P NRTI CO time series, the satellite continuously collects data as it orbits the Earth. The TROPOMI instrument measures the sunlight reflected or scattered by the Earth's atmosphere in different spectral bands.
