Once a bustling affluent city in colonial times, this tranquil town on the Magdalena river now rests largely undisturbed by outside influence. It's high humidity and hot climate only pull you deeper into it's soothing trance. I've visited Mompox, Colombia at least three times, and they won't be the last. Mompox boasts delicious cuisine, unique architecture, and a calm and authentic Colombian village experience. The people are without a doubt the kindest and most interactive I've met in Colombia.
