Getting close to done. Guard for belts to be fabricated, and 240 volt AC stuff to be done. Next ( and last ) vid will show this done and a load test up to 4.8kw in .8kw steps. Hopefully in the next month or two. Engine start is at 2:03. Just as a footnote regarding the engine. I picked it up with less than an hour on it. This style of engine with the radiator cooling have tended to not be very reliable. To try and rectify this, I have done the following, Removed radiator and cleaned, Cut new rubber gasket with reinforcing material in place of the original which was like bicycle inner tube rubber, Cleaned block surface and rad. mating surface, applied silicone between block and gasket and just nipped up rad till dry ( overnight ), applied silicone between gasket and rad. and tensioned correctly, doing this prevents gasket from spreading ( causing leaks ). Replaced crap Chinese brgs in idler pulley ( 1 ) and fan ( 2 ). Fabricated new governor spring external lever ( now virtually no slop between lever and governor shaft ). Fabricated throttle lever and friction nut ( wing nut with bank of fibre and steel washers ) and attatched to engine via commercially available brass linkage and ball joints. Have not used electronic governing on this generator, as internal governor springs would have to have been modified, and that was more mucking around than I was willing to undertake on this generator. Will be using all the electronic stuff I have, for my next project, which will be a small ( 2-3 kw. ) petrol powered inverter style generator ( I know you can buy 1000's of different ones off EBAY, but wheres the fun and learning in that ?? ). Replaced paper gaskets in aircleaner and exhaust with better quality paper for aircleaner, and proper metal reinforced heatproof material for exhaust. Result was a smoother running engine that maintains a steady rpm, and hasn't overheated or lost a drop of coolant. Have done a short load test, 2.5kw for 30 minutes, and engine and alt handled that no problems.
