Impressions from the Benešov u Prahy steam and diesel gathering this weekend, mainly on the branch line Čerčany - Zruč nad Sázavou along Sázava river with engines from the Austro-Hungarian monarchy: kkStB 310.23 (StEG #3791 / built in 1911) from Heizhaus Strasshof (1. öSEK) and ČSD 354.7152 (ex kkStB 429.1996, BMMF #657 / built in 1916). The boiler "ticket" of 310.23 expires this year. Due to the poor state of Austrian heritage railways, it is unsure whether or when we will experience it in mainline action again. Also featuring 475.111 at the Tábor turntable, ÖBB "Blauer Blitz" 5145.11 DMU (which had once reached Prague as classic "Vindobona" express), Henschel-GM 2050.04, MÁV NOHAB-GM M61.010, ČSD T478.2006 and regular ČD diesel trains. Of course everything reached only by train and on foot. Also, my old Tascam DR-7 sound recorder had given up in summer after more than 12 years of service all around the world - I bought a Zoom H2N to replace it. Somehow it stopped recording before reaching 10 minutes during the last 310.23 scene, then did not record anything anymore. Perhaps due to a corrupt SD card, I will have to investigate further.
