You can see our previous video    • Morning Yoga Practice for Internation...  , if you prefer a silent practice. A 25 minute morning yoga practice to celebrate International Yoga Day. This yoga sequence comprises some standing poses (asanas), some seated poses and backbends. This is yoga for beginners so anyone can try this yoga workout. We would recommend you look at our Beginners Yoga series if you are new to yoga as this yoga sequence contains some challenging poses like Parivrtta Parsvakonasana (Revolved Side Angle Pose). You may need 2 foam pads, 2 yoga bricks and 2 belts. Wednesday, June 21st, 2017, was celebrated around the world as International Day of Yoga, sponsored by the United Nations. This yoga sequence is taken from the sequence recommended by Geeta Iyengar to celebrate the first International Yoga Day in 2015. We hope that you will use this yoga practice to honour yoga and our teacher, B.K.S. Iyengar. This morning yoga practice is complimented by the evening yoga practice which contains the inversions like Salamba Sirsasana, (Headstand) and Salamba Sarvangasana, (Shoulder stand). You can just do one practice if you don't have time to do both. The standing poses in this yoga sequence invigorate and strengthen the body and the mind. The twists stimulate the digestive tract and improve spinal mobility. The backbends energise and give the body flexibility. Lin (in white) does the classic versions of the poses and Leo (in turquoise) shows the modified versions for those Yoga students who are still working towards the poses.
