The Leyland National was one of the most iconic buses of the UK, and possibly the world. In 1985, its replacement - the Leyland Lynx - made its debut. But the Lynx was never to achieve the same status as the National. However, it did have a unique design, and an even a modern one for its time. One unusual aspect of the Leyland Lynx, is that it has design elements in common with the American Grumman Flxible 870. The 870 first appeared in 1978 and ended production as the Flxible Metro in 1995.
