How To Re-paint An RC Body?! - RC Stories Garage - Episode 14

In this episode of RC Stories Garage, we discuss my experience re-painting a polycarbonate RC body. I originally painted my Vanquish VS4-10 Phoenix Portal body this spring. It wasn’t until I finished painting that I realized I had accidentally used a can of TS-73 Clear Orange. I could tell right away that the paint was not adhering well to the polycarbonate plastic. However, after a few drives it was doing okay. That is, until a drive at 0ºC one lovely fall morning. I rolled the Phoenix quite hard and when I got home I realized the paint had really taken a beating. I’d watched a YouTube video by RC Empire who was able, with effort, to crack TS paint off of a polycarbonate body, and realized that the freezing temperature would make the job easier. Without hesitation I went to work stripping and prepping the body for a re-paint. Ifre-painting didn’t work out, my plan B was going to be my first patina paint job. Plan C was a new $150 body set. I’ve been hesitating adding (my) voice to videos for several reasons: 1) I’m naturally a quiet guy; 2) I need a script to work from and didn’t want that to sound boring; and 3) Recording voice audio is difficult — I have a very good, if ancient, recorder (Zoom Handy H4n), but the real problem is background noise in my house. I woke up this morning at 5:30 and got it done before anyone else was moving. Now that I have broken the ice, expect more voice-overs on future Garage videos. Maybe someday I’ll even become a Youtube personality!
