Thrilling 4WD Adventure - Exploring Black Birch Road, Jacksons Creek Road, Mt Patriarch and More

Get ready for an unforgettable 4WD adventure in the stunning Mt Patriarch area! We'll be exploring some of the most beautiful and remote parts of New Zealand, with plenty of thrills and excitement along the way. Our first destination is the hair-raising Black Birch Observatory Road, with its hairpin turns and dizzying heights. Hang on tight as we make our way up this winding road and take in the stunning views from the top. Next, we'll be driving along Taylor Pass Road and crossing over the Wairau River onto the North Bank Road, where we'll explore the breathtaking Mount Richmond Forest Park. Our original plan was to tackle the Goulter 4WD track, but with that route closed, we ended up exploring Top Valley Road instead. Along the way, we discovered some amazing campsites, like Jubilee Flat, and explored lovely little tracks like Jacksons Creek Road. After spending the night in a gorgeous little stealth camping site along Jacksons Creek Road, we headed up the thrilling Staircase Road the next morning. This road is definitely one of the top 50 routes in New Zealand, with its breathtaking views, high-altitude lookouts, and plenty of seclusion. Starting from the base at the turnoff from Top Valley Road, Staircase Road is 27.1km and takes you all the way up to the summit of Mt Patriarch.
