Lou Williams to Montrezl Harrell (Lou to Trez)

The dynamic duo Montrezl Harrell and Lou Williams lit up the league this season…OFF THE BENCH. The greatest aspect of Lou Williams’ game is his ability to stop and go, and play at a very out of sync pace with everyone else on the floor. He’s a silky smooth scorer with a game so shifty that most of his teammates seem like they don’t know where he’s going; that is what makes his partnership with Harrell so special. They seem to read each other with the greatest of ease. When Lou needs Trez to slip, he’s already throw the pass before the defense knows what happens. When Trez needs to reangle his ball screen (that’s the primary reason it was the first clip in this video), he’s jamming up Lou’s defender before Lou has even crossed over. This combo two absolutely detonated on the league. Nobody picked the Clippers to go to the playoffs, and very few even picked the Clippers to win a game against the reigning champion Golden State Warriors, but with the bull in the china shop approach Trez brings to his rolls and dives to the rim, and Lou being the ALL-TIME leading scorer for players off the bench, the really pushed the Warriors, and evidently the league at large, past a point anyone expected. The way Trez twists and the way Lou turns is almost a dance. As Doc Rivers said: “They just match each other’s speed, they feel each other.” They are fun to watch, and the fact that they both willingly come off the bench is great for young players to see. I hope the Clippers can keep these two in LA together for as long as they can. The last two clips of this video are very basic, but a little something I don’t want to go unnoticed. Obviously everyone in the league knows that Lou Williams is THE closer for the Clippers, and so a lot of the time, the defense will double or blitz to get the ball out of his hands to make someone else make a play. It seems like a simple play, and the most obvious one to make, but you HAVE to trust the guy you’re throwing the pass to in that situation, and Lou trusts Trez in high pressure situations, and he came through on both plays. http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/26...
