Its our first family visit to Bhakra Dam which is called as the Modern temple of India located near the Upstream Bhakra Village in Bilaspur District of Himachal Pradesh. It has 4 gateways to manage the flood situation or water overflow. Water falls on turbines and generate electricity through Power House. Its described as 'New temple of resurgent India. Its the third largest reservoir in India. Its reservoir known as 'Govind Sagar' stores upto 9.34 billion cubic metres of water. the 90 km long reservoir spread over an area of 168.35 km square. It has length of 518.25 m & width is 9.1m. Our First Prime Minister Pandit Jawahar lal Nehru poured the first bucket of concrete into the dry riverbed of the sutlej on 17 November 1955. Beautiful work done by 13 Thousand Workers & 300 Civil Engineers. The way leads to Naina Devi and Manali which is approx 250kms away. We also went to Sutlej sadan which was visited by our First Prime minister for about 13 times. After that we went to Shri Anandpur Sahib where we visited Gurudwara Shri Baoli Sahib and Takhat Shri Kesgarh sahib where we felt spiritually connected to the environment. Listened to the Kirtan Darbar, Gurbaani which filled us all with Zeal and Zest. Mountainous area is cool and cozy often lifts up our spirit which makes it apt to establish the spiritual connection. At last we went to Sher E Punjab Dhaba for the exquisite dinner. It was a family trip to remember for sure for myriad reasons.
